The "Little Richard" is an easy to build and fly model, kitted by Easy Built Models, but we all built ours from scratch. A fun group build!
On the second Sunday of most every month, we fly outdoor models at the SAM 27 field near Lakeville. It has large expanses of open space and an R/C runway.
On the fourth Sunday of the month, as schedule permits, we fly indoor models. We are fortunate to have use of this wonderful old gymnasium at St. Vincent's in Marinwood.
This is the Marin Aero Club blog. We're from all over the
San Francisco Bay Area and share a common interest in building and flying model airplanes, mostly rubber powered free flight.

Although some of our members enjoy radio-controlled flying, we are traditionally a stick-and-tissue building and rubber flying club.

Sunday and Thursday mornings are popular fly times with club members. No regular meet-up times are scheduled.
Indoor flying is suspended until we can find a venue. If anyone knows of an available space, please let us know.

I feel like every day at the field is a good day thanks to the great group of people who belong to Marin Aero Club and SAM 27. I enjoyed the time spent hanging around at Lakeville, waiting for the wind to let up, drinking coffee and talking. The camaraderie is half the fun for me.
Unfortunately our FAC contest was cancelled twice because of high wind. Let's hope that doesn't happen again!
I look forward to seeing everyone next year. Happy holidays!
Are these Radio Controlled airplanes?

These planes are not radio controlled, actually.
They are Free Flight, which means they are built to circle up to altitude and then glide back down, also in a circular fashion.
This is the oldest form of model airplanes, originating in 1871...
long before the Wright brothers' first flight.
